The Town of Yucca Valley has adopted an urgency ordinance. as an addendum to the General Plan Update Environmental Impact Report, enacting emergency regulations for implementation of the special order relating to take of Western Joshua Tree during its candidacy period issued by the California Fish and Game commission, amending the current town municipal code in its sections that address the Western Joshua Tree as part of the list of regulated desert native plants under the California Native Plant Act.
The new ordinance outlines a cost structure for removal or relocation of Western Joshua Trees based on height for residential lots, these do not include the costs of biologists or arborists that may be involved in the relocation or removal of a Joshua Tree, but rather the mitigation fund prices in relation to tree height and distance boundaries that trigger the requirements.
